My beach was full of several different water fowl including coots, water turkeys and great blue heron. Captain Fred’s Airboat Nature Tours just went by on his “Nature” Tour, and every single bird flew away. His business is a disruption and threat to nature.

Reviews Captain Fred’s Airboat Nature Tours Problems: No Respect for Homeowners Lake Hamilton, Florida. As an avid fisherman and outdoor enthusiast, I always dreamed of living on a lake that provided gentle breezes, spectacular sunsets, amazing water views and the deafening sounds of airboat tours (I say in jest about the airboat tours). When Captain Fred’s Airboat Nature Tours started operation on Lake Hamilton in Polk County, Florida, the homeowners lost some of the main reason associated with lake living. Our solitude and quiet enjoyment are continually being disturbed with the vociferous sounds of rotor blades, up to 8 to 10 hours a day.
As I pointed out previously, I am an avid fisherman and have never had any problems with airboats or other forms of water craft. I have been around airboats all my life and everyone is welcome. My issue is with a business that uses multiple commercial airboats (larger and louder engines) whose interest is solely for making money while infringing on my rights.
I understand there are train and plane enthusiasts who purchase homes close to tracks or near airports. These people have performed the proper due diligence and know ahead of time what they are purchasing. The home owners on Lake Hamilton had no choice in this matter as Captain Fred’s Airboat Nature Tours have been forced upon us. We now have to listen to the sound of commercial airboats practically all day.
To even insult matters worse, in one of our meetings, the owner of the airboat tours even stated that he could very easily change his tour direction and come closer to all the homes. He stated that he would bring all his friends that have airboats to the lake. Clearly this man doesn’t care about his fellow man. His only interest is greed.

If Captain Fred’s Airboat Nature Tours was truly about nature, he would use kayaks instead of loud commerical airboats to conduct his tours. The airboats have driven away much of the wildlife both by noise as well as driving through flocks of birds and tearing up the reeds where the birds nest. His company’s behavior is disruptive and selfish to a beautiful ecosystem. Please do not patronize this “business”.
